On December 14, 2024, the tech community gathered at Miami Dade College, Wolfson Campus, for DevFest Miami 2024, hosted by the Google Developer Groups (GDG) Miami chapter. This exciting event brought together developers, tech enthusiasts, and industry experts for a day filled with insightful talks, hands-on workshops, and opportunities to connect with like-minded professionals.
The event was a resounding success, offering a dynamic blend of education, innovation, and community-building. The event kicked off with inspiring keynotes and sessions from a stellar lineup of speakers, including Daniel Di Bartolo, Product Manager for Security Foundations at Google. His keynote on building secure AI systems provided attendees with crucial insights into the importance of security in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
Among the key highlights was the presence of Shilpa Kancharla, a Machine Learning Engineer at Google, and Marissa Fisher, a Principal Software Engineer at the Broad Institute, who shared their expertise on machine learning and the latest trends in AI. Their sessions offered a deeper understanding of Google’s tools and technologies and how developers can leverage them for real-world applications.
The event featured interactive workshops and codelabs where attendees had the chance to dive deeper into topics like Firebase, Google Cloud, Android development, and more.


Networking was a major highlight of the event, as participants engaged with Google experts and fellow developers. Digic Teknica Inc., among the many attendees, had the opportunity to connect with professionals and industry experts, gaining valuable insights and making lasting connections. Notably, Joe Cruz of Digic Teknica Inc. had the chance to meet Daniel Di Bartolo during the event, discussing innovative approaches to security in AI and exploring potential collaborations.
One of the standout workshops was led by Angel Ramirez, CEO of Cuemby, who delivered an engaging session on Kubernetes. This hands-on experience allowed participants to enhance their technical skills while learning from industry leaders.
The event also featured speakers like Alice Keeler, a Google Developer Expert in Workspace, and Ricardo de Andrade, Professor at Florida Atlantic University, who provided further value to attendees through their talks and workshops.
